Known as “Father of American Scholarship and Education”, Noah Webster, Jr. (1758-1843) was an American lexicographer, a textbook pioneer, an English language spelling reformer, a political essayist, an educator, and a prolific writer. We generally associate Webster with the American Dictionary, even the current app version. His dictionary, which schools in Alabama, and homes and schools across America have used, was the result of over 20 years of research and the mastering of 26 languages. Webster was a complex, multi-talented, and gifted individual who is considered to be one of our country’s most distinguished founding fathers. His patriotic endeavors gave birth to America and its diverse citizens.
